Quilter Ann
E. Ann Morgan (Owner, machine quilter, hand quilter, quilt piecer & on-line quilt shop owner)

Sewing has been my life since my teenage years when my mother taught me to sew. Later, these skills proved most beneficial as I was able to contribute to our family of five children, by sewing clothes for them. Since then, my children have left the nest, and I now have 9 grandchildren to enjoy, and of course I forgot to mention our little rascal, Buttons of 15 yrs! My husband and I love to travel and spend time with our children and their families.

I have been an active member since 1992. In January of 1991, my sewing world took on a wonderful, new dimension when I discovered "quilting". Piecing, quilting and applique offered me an outlet to express my designing creativity. I often share my quilting skills with my local quilt guild in which I have been an active member since 1992. Thru the years I have found myself teaching at various venues, such as the Utah Quilt Guild Quilt Festival, Bryce Canyon Retreat, The Snow Goose Quilt Show Festival and numerous guilds. I am currently a resource teacher and an area representative with the Utah Quilt Guild.

In 2000 my daughter-in-law and I opened a brick and mortar quilt shop on Main Street. It was a wonderful experience working and meeting quilters from all areas. The shop took an interest in offering classes from the beginner to the seasoned quilter. We also had fun in the shop with our Thimbleberries and Redwork clubs. It was a great time to socialize on a personal level with the ladies.

It was in May of 2000 that we received the shipment of our Gammill quilting machine. When it arrived, I couldn’t believe how heavy and big it was. I just remember when the freight guy arrived, he wasn’t about to unload the machine off the truck; I had to go fetch my own help. Now, that was a surprise to me! But, after all that excitement, we couldn’t wait to start stitching on the long arm machine. It has since brought us many years of enjoyment and personal satisfaction. It is exciting to stretch our creativity with designing new quilting patterns.

When it comes to machine quilting, we are always on the watch for new techniques and quilting patterns. In 2001, we went to Illinois to the Machine Quilters Showcase (MQS) for long arm quilting classes and to see all the new products on the market. Since then, we don’t have to travel so far from home, we now attend quilting classes at the Home Machine Quilters Showcase (HMQS) in Salt Lake City each year. Yearly we take classes from several international long arm instructors. The knowledge we gain from these classes is priceless; and each year our quilting patterns show it.

Besides machine quilting, I also get a lot of enjoyment in designing quilt patterns and projects. You can find a few of my original patterns in our “on-line quilt shop”.

Sharing the art of quiltmaking is the joy of my life!
